About Fit2cook4kids After School Program
It began with the belief
that young people should be able to create healthy meals and snacks for
themselves and their families. It began with the knowledge that middle
school children, left unsupervised after school, are at risk of making
poor decisions that could affect them for the rest of their lives. On
this premise, the Fit2cook4Kids after school program was created by
combining fitness with cooking and life skills appropriate to prepare 11
to 15 year old students for a lifetime of healthfulness and success.
Our intent is to develop Fit2cook4kids as a model for the nation. While we have applied for a Federal Appropriation to further test this after school model in six Rhode Island cities, we are intent on offering and this program in Rhode Island. We are currently searching for a location to offer tuition based programs where students will prepare the dinner for their families each day after school. Students will also exercise and receive communications training.
Please let us know if you have a location with a commercial kitchen that would welcome our program. We also welcome the help of volunteers and donors who share our belief that Fit2cook4kids is a solution to the catastrophic epidemic of childhood obesity and related diseases.
